About Antonio
Antonio Benito López, born in 1994, is a Spanish triathlete who has emerged as a remarkable competitor in the international triathlon scene. In 2024, Antonio had a breakthrough year in his career, securing victories in four of his six competitions. Among his achievements were triumphs at the World Triathlon Long Distance Championship in Australia, the Ironman Vitoria-Gasteiz, the ETU Middle Distance Championships, and the Zarauzko Triathlon, where he set a record-breaking time of 7:36:38—becoming the fastest Spanish athlete ever over the Ironman distance. Additionally, Antonio debuted at the Ibiza T100, finishing as the 6th qualifier. At the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, Antonio delivered an exceptional performance. He stayed with the leading group during the swim and bike segments, ultimately finishing 20th after a demanding marathon. Antonio’s journey to the top began in 2022, when he claimed his first major victory at the Zarauzko Triathlon, followed by a win at the European Middle-Distance Championship in Bilbao. His passion and determination propelled him to new heights in 2023, a year marked by significant achievements.
He won two Ironman 70.3 titles in Swansea and Pucon, placed third in his debut full Ironman in Cascais, Portugal, and narrowly missed qualifying for Kona. Additionally, he secured second place at the World Triathlon Long Distance Championships in Ibiza. Antonio is a prominent figure in medium and long-distance triathlon, with immense potential on the global stage. His outstanding results have earned him a spot on the BMC Triathlon Team for 2025, one of the most prestigious teams in the sport. Joining BMC represents both a tremendous honor and an exciting new chapter in Antonio Benito's career. Additionally, in 2025, he will take on another major challenge as he signs on to compete in the T100 Triathlon World Tour.
